Havens Hospices is excited to be hosting our flagship event, the Southend Half Marathon on 14th June 2026. Now in its 30th year, this sell out race has raised over £1.6 million for the Essex based charity. Being a regular fixture in the South East running calendar, the race regularly attracts over 2500 runners each year as well as numerous spectators who line the seafront route and start/finish area at East Beach, Shoeburyness. Runners take part from across the South East of England as well as the rest of the UK and as far afield as Europe, Hong Kong and the USA.
Route Information
The two-lap course takes runners along the scenic coast with views over the Thames Estuary. The flat route is closed to traffic, which makes it ideal for experienced runners looking to achieve a personal best time as well as runners who are taking on their first half marathon. Wheelchair athletes are also welcome.
Running for a Cause
This race is a major fundraising event for Havens Hospices. The charity - not part of the NHS - supports people of all ages across Essex, living with incurable conditions, to make every day of their life count. This care, provided within the home and at Fair Havens and Little Havens Hospices, is provided absolutely free of charge, thanks to the kindness of the community. People often tell Havens Hospices they wish they'd reached out sooner as they make such a difference to their quality of life and wellbeing.
Havens Hero Race Entry
By purchasing the Haven Hero entry ticket, your entry will include a £16 donation to Havens Hospices which could help cover the cost of half an hour of essential care at the hospice. This will make a huge difference for the people the charity supports - it's often the little things that have the greatest impact.
