One-day Paper Mosaic Workshop at Fishbourne Roman Palace

Make your own mosaic in a traditional hand-made Roman style but using paper instead of tiles. In this one-day workshop you'll discover the way the Romans made their pictures and designs using tesserae, and what makes a mosaic Roman rather than modern.

You can use your own picture or design or follow an ancient Roman mosaic image. You can choose the colours and textures you want to use from your own selection of paper (we suggest you collect old magazines and adverts, tickets, packaging, letters and other paper ephemera).

You can finish your mosaic during the workshop or take it home to complete. Once you have learned these techniques you can go on to make more paper mosaics or graduate into working with ceramic mosaic tiles.

This workshop is suitable for beginners, you don't need any experience or artistic skills to do this. It is also suitable for people who would like to develop their art in a new way.
