The Other Boleyn Girl
Released in February 2008, The Other Boleyn Girl stars Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson as the famous Boleyn sisters, Mary and Anne. Based on the novel by Philippa Gregory, it examines the relationship between the two sisters and their respective romances with King Henry VIII. Filming took place on the estate of Penshurst Place in Kent, one of England's oldest family houses and the seat of the Sidney family since 1552. Carry on Films
The carry on series are a collection of 31 films produced from 1958 - 1978 that are known for their, at the time, risqué sense of humour - stereotyping being at the forefront. Amassing an ensemble cast, one or two actors went on to become synonymous with the series, including the unforgettable Kenneth Williams, Sid James and of course Matron herself - Hattie Jacques. 30 of the classic 'Carry On's' were filmed at the historic Pinewood studios in Berkshire whilst off set locations included Cardwells Keep in Stoughton, Surrey during Carry on Sergeant and Burnham Beeches In Buckinghamshire - the set of the holiday camp in Carry on Camping.

Four Weddings and a Funeral
The 1994 classic, Four Weddings and a Funeral is the film that well and truly launched Hugh Grant into the realms of movie-star status. The comedy followed Charles, a hapless romantic who finds himself on a endless circuit of weddings, in the process meeting and falling in love with a glamorous American. Fans of the film can visit The Rose and Crown Hotel where the infamous four poster bed scene took place with Andie MacDowell and Hugh Grant, located in the quaint setting of Amersham, Buckinghamshire.

Shakespeare in Love and Chariots of Fire
The life and times of William Shakespeare were translated onto the silver screen in John Madden's Shakespeare in Love, a romantic comedy released in 1998. Starring Joseph Fiennes as Shakespeare, it was for this film that both Gwyneth Paltrow and Dame Judi Dench picked up Oscars as Best Actress and Best supporting Actress respectively. One of the locations used to create Elizabethan England was the prestigious Eton College, an institution founded in 1440. A popular location Eton was also used when filming the 1980's epic, Chariots of Fire, which depicts the struggles of two athletes training for the 1924 Olympics.

Pride and Prejudice
The Jane Austin favourite Pride and Prejudice hit our screens in 2005, receiving both critical and public acclaim. Showcasing the ups and downs of the five Bennet sisters, Keira Knightley took on the role of the feisty Elizabeth with key turns also coming from Dame Judi Dench, Brenda Blethyn and Donald Sutherland. The adaptation was filmed entirely in the UK with key locations selected in the South East. Groombridge Place Gardens in Kent was the chosen setting for Longbourne, the Bennet's family home whilst Basildon Park, Berkshire, doubled for Netherfield - the home of Mr Bingley.

The Holiday
The Romantic Comedy, The Holiday, is a tale of two women who swap houses during the Christmas period to escape troublesome relationships. Leaving the stresses of her life in California behind, Cameron Diaz's character heads to the beautiful countryside of Surrey, where she finds and falls in love with Graham Simpkins, a character played by Jude Law. Filming took place in the picturesque village's of Shere and Godalming in Surrey with Shere's local pub used for the characters first date.
Elizabeth and Elizabeth the Golden Age
The life of arguably one of England's greatest monarch's was expertly brought to life in 1998 in the biographical epic, Elizabeth. Charting the rise to power and early years of Elizabeth I reign, Cate Blanchett shines in the central role, documenting the treasonous plots and scandals that circulated at the time. In 2007 she reprised the role for Elizabeth the Golden Age, picking up where the last film left off, the story, amongst other things, puts the spotlight on the Queen's relationship with Sir Walter Raleigh. Locations were used across the region including Dorney Court in Buckinghamshire (Raleigh's house) Leeds Castle (Chartley Hall) and Winchester Cathedral (St Paul's Cathedral).
