South East England boasts an ever increasing choice of accessible accommodation. A wide range of facilities are offered in order to welcome visitors with visual, hearing or mobility impairments.

The choice of accessible guest accommodation, B&Bs, hotels, self catering properties, hostels and camping and caravanning sites is expanding, as providers strive to meet the needs of all visitors.

From the supply of ramps and disabled parking, to the provision of disability awareness training for staff, the South East is increasingly meeting specific needs.

Wheelchair friendly accommodation

You can check accessibility facilities for each accommodation provider on their listing or by contacting the establishment, but here is a small selection to get you started.

All self catering cottages at Wallops Wood Cottages in Hampshire are V1 and H1 rated (National Accessible Scheme), 4 are M1 rated, 1 is M2 rated and 1 is M3 rated. Their heated indoor swimming pool also has a hoist for wheelchair users.

Mulberry Cottages has more than twenty properties with excellent accessibility facilities in South East England including Shuttlesfield Barn in Kent with M1 and M2 disability access.

Granary Barn at Burgate Manor Farm on the edge of the New Forest is fully accessible for the disabled with a ramped walkway up to the front door, downstairs bedrooms and large downstairs wetroom designed for wheelchair use.

Indulge in a spa break at Park House where the hotel and spa are accessible for wheelchair users. The spa has a lift down to the treatment rooms and men’s and ladies’ changing rooms, and staff members are always on hand to help with ramp facilities. The hotel also provides guests who are hard of hearing with a specialist fire alarm.
