Creation Theatre Company hosts an Auction of Promises
Friday, 2nd May 2008
Following its recent transition to charitable status, Oxford’s Creation Theatre Company is planning its first major fundraising event: a Gala Auction of Promises. The event will be held on Sunday 18 May at Carluccio’s in the Oxford Castle complex, an apt venue as Creation will be performing two shows there later this year. Tickets cost £15 and include a three course meal, entertainment and the auction.
Unlike many theatres, Creation Theatre Company has never received core funding and is therefore hoping that this auction, will help the company realise its dreams to expand its education programme and develop its productions.
Creation Theatre Company is famous for its open-air summer productions and its winter productions in the antique Mirror Tent, but since becoming a charity Creation Theatre Company has invested a great deal of time into developing its education in the community, such as running issue-based workshops with groups such as the Youth Offending Service and Oxfordshire County Council. David Parrish, Producer and Artistic Director, explains “It has always been the company’s ambition to bring quality theatre to a wide range of people across Oxfordshire and beyond, and it is my hope that through our fundraising efforts and events such as the Gala Auction of Promises, we will raise enough funds for a performance tent of our own in which we could not only perform our unique brand of accessible theatre, but hold workshops too.”
Lots for the auction range from music and theatre event tickets to tours of MINI production at BMW Group Plant Oxford and from river cruises to original artwork. To buy tickets or to donate a lot, please contact the Box Office on 01865 766266.
