The Historic Dockyard is a great place to visit as a couple or with friends and family. Discover over 400 years of maritime history as you explore the most complete dockyard of Age of Sail and 'meet' characters from the past. Set in a stunning 80 acre estate, all our maritime galleries and attractions will excite and entertain you - whatever your age!
See where HMS Victory was built and tread the well-worn cobbles - following the footsteps of Nelson. For centuries the Dockyard walls kept many closely guarded secrets safe. Visit The Historic Dockyard Chatham today and see them revealed.
You'll be amazed by the working Ropery as our costumed guides help you make your own piece of rope. You'll be gripped by the stories of life aboard the three Historic Warships - HMS Gannet (1878) the last remaining sloop of Queen Victoria's Navy, HMS Cavalier (1944) the Second World War Destroyer, now a memorial ship and HM Submarine Ocelot which once prowled the depths of the oceans.
Be absorbed by the sights, sounds and smells of the dockyard of 1758, recreated in the Wooden Walls gallery. Journey through 400 years of maritime history in the inspiring Museum of the Royal Dockyard and re-live heroic rescues of RNLI crews in the Lifeboat! gallery.
Visit our beautiful Commissioner's Garden and rest a while in the tranquillity that it provides. If you have children with you then allow them to let off steam in our indoor or outdoor play areas.
New for 2008 are a new 'Ropery Experience' and the opening of the impressive large object store 'No 3 Covered Slip' with it magnificent wooden roof.
All full price tickets are valid for 12 months so you can visit once and then return as many times a you like in a year (except specified special events, subject to conditions).

These two events are separately ticketed and return visits with the 12 month ticket are not valid.
