Holidays for Teens

Like most children, by the time yours reach their teens they are sure to know exactly what they like and often it is not the same as you. Luckily, the South East has a huge range of attractions, activities and destinations to suit the most wilful of teenagers and parents.

Attractions

Entertain adrenalin lovers and head to Milton Keynes, where there are almost too many things for teenagers to do - from indoor skiing and snowboarding on actual snow, to glow in the dark bowling, indoor sky diving and rock climbing. Alternatively why not head for Harbour Park in Sussex and have a go on a number of thrilling rides or take the “little monkeys” on a high wire forest adventure at one of a number of Go Ape locations across the South East.

Shopaholics

There are plenty of huge shopping centres and malls across South East England, such as Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth - where the surf and skate shops will appeal to teens, as will the multi-screen cinema and huge selection of cafés and restaurants. Ashford Designer Outlet in Kent is another top shopping venue that will keep them (and you) entertained for hours. Other popular attractions for teens are the super-spooky Arundel Ghost Experience in the town's dungeons or The Canterbury Tales walk-through exhibition in Canterbury, Kent.

Seaside Holidays

Teenagers seem to pick things up so much more easily than adults, as you will discover if you indulge in the many water-sports courses available along the length of the south coast. The Isle of Wight, with its wide, flat beach and safe waters, is a popular choice for learning windsurfing, kite-surfing and just about every other watery activity. For those looking for a more laidback and relaxing time, the Isle of Wight’s near 60 miles of dramatic coastline, dotted with striking golden sand beaches, provide numerous scenic bathing spots.

Countryside

Getting teens out into the countryside may be a struggle for some, but there are so many things for teenagers to do, it's worth the effort. Whether it's mountain biking in the beautiful Kent countryside, kayaking along the River Thames or paragliding off the South Downs, there are so many ways to catch their imagination. Add to that the hundreds of parks and wide open spaces for playing football, rugby, Frisbee or picnicking, and you get a great day out for all the family.
