Quirky, colourful – and never boring – Brighton is one of the UK's most vibrant destinations. A long-time favourite for romantic getaways, party weekends and fun family holidays, Brighton offers an incredible range of attractions for every taste and every age group.

For proof of Brighton's inherent quirkiness, look no further than the gloriously madcap Royal Pavilion. King George IV's India-inspired palace is a masterpiece of over-the-top architecture. You can take guided tours through the lavish interior, or spend a few hours lounging around the wonderful gardens.

Brighton is also a shopper's paradise. The winding, historic lanes are full of unique jewellery makers and specialist boutiques. Both the Brighton Lanes and North Laine are full of independent, retro and craft shops.

Brighton has one of the most thriving bar, restaurant and café scenes anywhere outside London. From bohemian bars and arty clubs, to high-class restaurants and traditional pubs, there's something for everyone.

If you're looking for arts and culture, Brighton is bursting at the seams! You can find classy productions at the Theatre Royal, or cult and arthouse films at The Duke of York - Britain's oldest continuously operating cinema. Every May, the Brighton Festival gets into full swing – turning Brighton into the cultural focal point for the whole of the UK.

For all of its energy, Brighton is still very much a classic relaxed English seaside town. Brighton Pier and the city's Regency promenades offer a stylish glimpse of the past. And, of course, the most popular attraction in Brighton remains its beach. Expect it to be busy in the summer months with day trip visitors and locals looking for fun in the sun!

Things to do in Brighton...

  • Chug along the seafront from the Pier to Brighton Marina on the oldest working electric railway in the world – the miniature Volks Railway.
