Jerwood Gallery


The award-winning Jerwood Gallery is situated next to the fishing beach in Hastings’ historic Old Town.

The gallery is home to the Jerwood Collection of 20th and 21st century art and an exhibition programme showcasing the best of modern and contemporary British art.

The Jerwood Collection’s main focus is on between the First World War and the 1960s. Highlights include works by some of the great British artists of the previous century, including Sir Stanley Spencer, L.S. Lowry, Walter Sickert and Augustus John. The collection, which continues to grow, also features contemporary works by artists including Rose Wylie, Maggie Hambling and Jeffery Camp.

Road Directions

The Jerwood Gallery is just off the A259 on Rock-a-Nore Road, 62 miles from London.

The A21, which runs between London and Hastings provides easy access into the centre of Hastings.

Public Transport Directions

By Bus - Hastings and St. Leonards are served by the Stagecoach bus company who run regular bus services in the town.

By Rail - Regular train services run from London Victoria and London Charing Cross to Hastings.  Direct trains to Hastings from Brighton and Ashford International.
