Herstmonceux is renowned for its magnificent moated castle, set in 550 acres of glorious parkland and superb Elizabethan gardens.
Built originally as a country home in the mid 15th Century, Herstmonceux Castle embodies the history of medieval England and the romance of renaissance Europe.
In the gardens you will find the formal gardens, including a walled garden dating from before 1570, a herb garden, the Shakespeare garden, woodland sculptures, the pyramid, the water lily filled moat and the Georgian style folly.

Open 7 days Mon - Sun 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. (last admission 5pm) from 12 April - 2 November 2008.
The castle is not open to the public, however guided tours are conducted at an extra extra charge and subject to availability. Please telephone for confirmation of times before your visit.

Road Directions

Signposted from A272 Road at Herstmonceux two miles east of village on Boreham Street to Pevensey road. Look for sign to Herstmonceux Castle on A271 or A27.
