Bodiam Castle’s Grand Medieval Weekend and Herstmonceux Castle’s Medieval Festival are popular annual events; Battle Abbey (1066 and all that), Battle Museum and Kipling’s home, Bateman’s, run children’s events throughout summer; Drusillas Park and Rye Harbour Nature Reserve  provide hands on fun; the Kent & East Sussex Railway the finest rural light railway in the country, is a fun way to reach Bodiam Castle, or take a boat cruise or kayak from Bodiam Boating Station at Newenden.

Cycle or walk from Hastings to Bexhill along the new coastal path and join a children's activity afternoon at Bexhill Museum or play in the fountains on the new seafront development.

Hastings has something for all the family. Traditional seaside fun at the biggest adventure golf complex; the steepest cliff railway in the UK leads up to Hastings Country Park; the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Europe; a picturesque Old Town with independent shops; an aquarium and smugglers caves!
