Brimming with arts and culture and steeped in two thousand years of history, the cathedral city of Chichester is situated between two 'Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty' - the gorgeous rolling hills of the South Downs and the seclusion and tranquillity of Chichester harbour.

The district's diverse contrasts in terms of scenery and attractions means there's something different for every visitor. There are a spectacular variety of places to discover which makes the area an ideal place for a short break to unwind and relax. There's a great range of accommodation, too: whether you prefer quaint B&Bs, cool hotels or state-of-the-art caravans. The nearby coastline is endowed with glorious stretches of beaches to the south and further afield you'll find many other picturesque towns and villages to explore including the market towns of Midhurst and Petworth. The area boasts four impressive historic houses - Petworth House, Uppark, Goodwood House and Stansted Park. Chichester's Roman heritage is very much on display at Fishbourne Roman Palace and medieval to Victorian buildings can be seen at the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum. For an altogether more modern form of entertainment, the Lakeside Superbowl offers top-notch 10-pin bowling fun.

Chichester is also home to the internationally renowned Chichester Festival Theatre and events and festivities take place throughout the year.
