Windsor & Eton Brewery
79 years after the closure of Windsor’s last brewery, we are delighted to be bringing brewing back to Windsor. Our brewery is within sight of Windsor Castle and we hope that our ales will prove to be a great hit for locals and many of the 7 million visitors who come to Windsor and Eton each year.
We managed to create a new brewery from scratch in just seven weeks. On the 1st March 2010, St David’s Day, we began installing the brewing vessels and on 23rd April 2010, St George’s Day, pubs started selling Guardsman best bitter. We are beginning to think we might have a bit of saintly help! Our second beer, Knight of the Garter, was launched on 14th June 2010, to coincide with the Order of the Garter Ceremony at Windsor Castle. Conqueror, a black IPA, was launched in October.
All three beers are available in many local pubs and clubs – a full list can be found on the ‘Where to Taste’ tab of our website and all three have also been bottled. Cask and bottled beer can now also be bought directly from the brewery, together with glasses, t-shirts, polo shirts and hats.
NEW ALE FOR ROYAL WEDDING!
Windsor Knot has been specially brewed to celebrate the Royal Wedding. It is a Windsor Pale Ale with a light colour but is made special by the use of the much sought after "Nelson Sauvin" hop which gives the beer a delicious fruity aroma and flavour - ideal for a special celebration. The beer is available in commemorative bottles and on draught in pubs from the beginning of April.
We are now able to offer fascinating tours of our brewery to small groups of between 5 and 20 people. Lasting an hour and a half you will enjoy a fun and informative insight into one of Britain's oldest and most thriving industries. Our tours are very popular so please telephone the brewery or email the Royal Windsor Information Centre windsor.tic@rbwm.gov.uk as pre-booking is essential. £8 per person.
The Brewery Shop is open 9am to 6pm weekdays, 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.
