Royal Armouries - Fort Nelson
Fort Nelson is a superbly restored Victorian fort overlooking Portsmouth Harbour. It is home to the Royal Armouries national artillery collection
with over 350 historic guns on display. This incredible monument to Victorian defence wows visitors with its impressive history of military might and boasts guns of all shapes and sizes: everything from pre-gunpowder siege machines to the massive 200-tonne railway gun.
Explore the 19-acre Fort, its tunnels and ramparts and find out about the lives of the people who lived and worked here. Then when you need a break
from all that adventure why not drop into Cafe 1871 for a relaxing cuppa.
Don't miss the daily big gun salute at 1pm. Throughout the year there is a range of special events and school holiday activities.
Fort Nelson is also licensed for weddings and has several function rooms for private or corporate hire.
