Best events in June

June kicks off just the way we like it with a half term break for the kids packed with plenty of events and activties for all the family.

The first weekend of June is packed with events for all tastes. Quench your thirst at the Southampton Beer Festival with more than 90 ales, beers and ciders to sample while Bournemouth Wheels Festival returns for a third year with new attractions and displays at this popular free event. Literary folk will enjoy a celebration of all things Dickens in Rochester with a weekend to honour one of England's greatest writers.

It's not often you get the opportunity to become a world champion, but the World Poohsticks Championships in Oxfordshire on June 5th gives you just that chance on Winnie-the-Pooh's 95th birthday. And the following weekend sees the World Crazy Golf Championships in Hastings.

The Isle of Wight Festival is one of the region's most iconic events and a stellar line-up of music acts is set to grace the island between June 9th and 12th. Hampton Court Palace Festival takes place in the stunning Tudor Base Court of the Palace with world-class acts, spectacular fireworks and sumptuous dining experiences.

The Basingstoke Festival starts on June 17th (to July 10th) with more than 100 events from Shakespeare to acrobats. On the same day, Sir Ian McKellen will be opening the prestigious Blenheim Flower Show. And don't forget Father's Day with this range of speciality events perfect for doting dads.

‘Unique’ is an over-used word these days but one that accurately describes the Goodwood Festival of Speed from June 23rd to 26th while the world renowned Henley Royal Regatta has to be the most famous event of its type. What a great way to end a busy month!
