About

The Museum of Reading tells the story of Reading through the ages, from its Saxon beginnings to today's high-tech town. Also featuring Britain's Bayeux Tapestry - Reading's famous Victorian replica of the 11thC original, the Silchester Gallery housing artefacts from the Roman town of Calleva Atrebatum and the Exhibition Gallery which hosts a changing programme of exhibitions.

The Box Room, a fascinating interactive gallery features Reading Museum Service's loan collection. Situated in the town hall, a fine example of Victorian Gothic architecture.

Nearest major road is M4. Take A33 north. At retail park roundabout take 2nd exit towards A329. Continue to Queens Road junction, turn left, past prison, left at roundabout, across next roundabout, left into Blagrave Street. Nearest car park at station.

Public Transport Directions

Nearest station is Reading. From the station (back exit-Rail Air coaches point) turn left up Blagrave Street. We are in the town hall complex, through the glass double doors. Opposite O Neills Pub.
