High Wycombe Chair Making Museum CIC


Visit Kraft Village Chair making museum, you will discover the wonderful heritage of High Wycombe from the 'Bodgers' working in the surrounding Beech woods making turned chair parts to the benchmen, framers through to examples of finished Windsor chairs.

The tour includes a brief demonstration on a shave horse and pole lathe and there are examples of all the tools used in making the chairs. There is a large Kraftinwood woodturning workshop where Robert Bishop RPT turns large hollow forms,Bowls and vases etc from burr,native and exotic woods including Auracaria-Auracana – Monkey puzzle.Robert also teaches and demonstrates woodturning to beginners through to experienced turners wishing to enhance their skills. Browse the Craft gift shop there is a variety of interesting gift items including wood, cards, glass, and sculptures. There are resident Artists studios working in a variety of mixed mediums. See the large Contemporary art gallery including international acclaimed artists ,a professional wild life photographer and a selection of mixed media artists work including sculptures.
