The Woolpack Inn

About

Standing in the chocolate-box village of Chilham, who could resist this large 600-year-old country inn complete with exposed oak beams and inglenook fireplaces that offer a glimpse into yesteryear? Adding to its charm, the inn is said to be haunted by the Grey lady, a friendly ghost who wanders the main building. Drift outside to the leafy courtyard and you will find another historical feature, an ancient olive tree that has been in situ since the inn was built.

The restaurant offers glorious views from its large bay window while you dine is on excellent homely British fare prepared with the best local ingredients in mind. In keeping with the period and style of the building, the ensuite bedrooms are lovely in every way. Two have four-poster beds with roll-top baths and delightful views. Other rooms are across the road in the old stable block, where three have access to a small private garden – a great plus for families or an opportunity to just sit and unwind.

The Woolpack makes a great stop-over just 30 minutes from the Channel tunnel, and with additional family rooms available children are more than welcome.

Rooms: 14 bedrooms, including two four poster rooms with roll-top baths and views to match. Rooms are available from £55 per night exclusive of breakfast.
