The Stag on the River

Dating back to 1771, the tastefully refurbished inn oozes character and there’s always a cheerful buzz about the place. Concealed among the rambling rooms are nooks and crannies where wood, brick and open fires create the perfect hideaway on a cold winter’s nights. Alternatively, there is a lovely garden beside the fast-moving millstream.

Once a regular haunt for shooters and hunters, traditional values from those years gone by have been retained: friendly and attentive service, quality hearty food made with locally sourced produce (meat is sourced from a local farm at nearby Godstone) and a great range of cask beers and wines.

The immaculate rustic-chic bedrooms are all en suite and decorated with designer wall coverings and other contemporary fittings. No two guest rooms are the same but all feature sumptuous goose-down duvets to snuggle up under for a restful nights sleep, we have 7 ensuite bedrooms.
