The Exchequer

Amongst the beautiful quiet villages of North Hampshire, yet just a stone's throw from the A287, this attractive whitewashed building has been beautifully spruced up by the owners and it’s looking good. The now contemporary interior still manages to keep hold of that country pub feeling and generates a very warm relaxing atmosphere. It welcomes walkers, canal boat users and cyclists alike, benefiting from being near the Basingstoke Canal.

Lounge about on comfy sofas next to the open fire reading the newspaper with a pint of local cask ale in one hand or if all you want is a café latte, then that's fine too! Dogs are welcome (and seem particularly fond of the fire) and it's lovely after a walk along the canal. What more could you want!!

The Exchequer is very proud of its gastro pub food and offers an extensive seasonal menu, with well-presented dishes that feature the best local produce, all created by chefs passionate about their food. You can feast on traditional pub favourites (perfectly cooked) or something more refined. Sunday roasts are very popular with families.

Food can be eaten at a table in the large conservatory where you can chat away to your heart’s content – the ideal place for a get together with friends and family in a relaxing and welcoming village pub setting. Outside, tables to the front pull a crowd on a warm summer’s afternoon and there is a small private garden. Many drop in for Sunday lunch before taking a stroll in any one of a number of local walking spots.
