The Baskerville

This handsome red-brick pub was built in 1936 and upholds the perfect blend of a traditional family-run pub, outstanding food and superb B&B accommodation.

The bar, with its sporting memorabilia, is cool in the summer and cosy in the winter with roaring log fires. With four cask ales, over 40 malt whiskies and an extensive wine list on offer, this is the place to engage in conversation or simply to relax with the newspaper. Charmingly unique, they charge 50p for a jug of water that is donated to Wateraid.

The Baskerville’s cuisine is modern British with continental and eastern influences. All dishes are homemade, prepared from only the finest ingredients and cooked to order. Not only are they well balanced in their flavours and a delight on the eye, they are unpretentiously a testament to the creative talents, imagination and flair of our passionate brigade under Head Chef, Marc Price.

Menus change frequently to reflect seasonality and availability and produce is sourced from long standing, tried and trusted suppliers and is delivered fresh, daily and is locally and organically sourced where practical.

The Sunday BBQ in the beautiful gardens (weather permitting) is a big draw. The garden is also an Ideal location for small functions, where a summer marquee can be erected. Note the four Ground Force Team topiaries that have appeared at the Chelsea Flower show.

Comfortable, well appointed en suite bedrooms feature luxury pocket-sprung beds and modern conveniences, such as flatscreen TV with Freesat channels and built in DVD, free Wifi and hospitality trays. Each bedroom is beautifully decorated with its own character and is named after a local Thames lock.

Dogs and other suitable pets are very welcome at The Baskerville: guests are asked not to exercise Fido in the garden but there are many fine designated walks in the surrounding area and along the River Thames. There is an outside hose for washing down muddy dogs and an American style dog crate suitable for puppies and small to medium dogs up to 23kg is available.

All of the above coupled with a warm welcome and knowledgeable staff, ensures a memorable experience in a marvellous location just a short drive from Henley.
