Visit Maidstone - A Destination Worth Exploring

Dear Robin

Maidstone is a great place to be this summer. A spectacular range of events draw large crowds but you can also discover peaceful countryside and world class attractions. Our excellent range of accommodation means that we are welcoming to all, whether you are a camping family with a tent or requiring a little luxury in a hotel. This is a great place to be this summer.

Value for money has never been more important, so seek out our special offers and combine days out at attractions with things you can enjoy for free. Check out our listings below to discover an enticing destination.

There is no better way to spend a summer day than on the River. Board a Kentish Lady River Cruise and enjoy the wildlife and beauty of this quiet backwater. Book 1 or 3 hour trips or the special trip to Allington Castle. Groups are welcome. Alternatively book a self-drive hire cruiser for a family of 6 to explore the River Medway independently or simply settle by the River at the Old Boat Café and take a stroll into the Medieval part of town.

Jump back in time to the glamour of Hollywood in the 1930’s. Leeds Castle has re-dressed some of its rooms celebrating its history when Lady Bailey restored the “Loveliest Castle in the World”, for you and her friends to visit. Alternatively, challenge yourself at Go-Ape’s high ropes. Kent Life has just won the Muddy Stiletto’s Best Family Attraction Award, a genuinely good family day out. Balfour Winery and Biddenden Vineyards make a great day out for grown-ups.

Mote Park offers an amazing space for everyone to enjoy, whether it is simply feeding the ducks and sitting by the water or meeting friends. The Mote Park Watersports Centre is a great opportunity to get out there and learn a new skill or simply to enjoy being on the water. Mote Park Outdoor Adventure appeals to those wanting to climb and challenge themselves, but equally the adventure golf will ensure that the whole family have something they can enjoy. Mote Park Leisure Centre is right next door if want to swim.

Lockmeadow has exciting family entertainment with an Odeon Lux Cinema, Hollywood Bowl, Trampolining, Urban Golf and a Food Hall of amazing flavours, recently discovered by foodie writers and bloggers.

The little know but rather beautiful Hazlitt Theatre often has a few spare seats and it is easy to book. There are cocktail bars, the famous Mumu’s and Ballin for those in search of bright lights and night out.

Maidstone has a host of wonderful things to do and see for free. We have castle ruins to explore, a natural world full of wildlife along the river and brass rubbing trail for children, we have parks with playgrounds and cycle routes. Our museum has a brilliant dinosaur gallery and Egyptian artefacts with some great fascinating explorer galleries. Check out our free and low cost places to visit, to ensure your family has a great holiday this year.

Maidstone has become the Events Capital of Kent with so much going on each week that it is hard to keep up but very enjoyable and lively at the same time. This year we are welcoming the Foodies Festival and Scouting For Girls, Katherine Jenkins, The Battle of Britain Air Show, Simply Red, The Wine Weekend, the Kent County Show, The Ice Cream Festival, Leeds Castle Classical Concert, Check Whats On, on Visit Maidstone so you don't miss anything.
