The Lord Chamberlain's Men invite you to join them this summer for the timeless and classic love story, Romeo and Juliet. Gates open 5:45pm for a 7pm start. You'll need to bring a chair and a picnic.
With a history stretching back to William Shakespeare himself they present this great play as he first saw it, in the open air, with an all male cast and Elizabethan costumes, music and dance.
"A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life"
Two youths from Verona – Romeo and Juliet – meet by chance and instantly fall in love. Members of two warring families, the Montagues and Capulets, they realise they cannot be together. But driven by love they risk everything and marry in secret. No sooner are they married than misfortune intervenes and, despite efforts to outrun it, their families' ancient feud catches up with them and brings about their tragic end.
"Tis but thy name that is my enemy."
With gates opening at 5.45pm, bring your picnics, blankets, camping chairs and torches to the north lawn for an evening of lively entertainment. There's a ten-minute walk between the carpark and the north lawn so make sure you can comfortably carry all your belongings. The performance runs 7-9.45pm.
