Maison Dieu history talk: St Mary's Hospital
Dover
Dover
As a key institution in the spiritual economy, the development of St Mary's hospital or the Maison Dieu offers an excellent way to explore the history of medieval Dover. This talk will examine relationships between those inside and outside the hospital, leading to its demise as a charitable establishment under its final master. Our speaker is Dr Sheila Sweetinburgh of Canterbury Christ Church University. Free in-person and online talk. Location details to follow in spring 2023.
