Join the Heritage team in the grounds of historic Guildford Castle on Saturday 3 August from 11am for a day of entertainment inspired by Lewis Carroll’s famous story book character Alice.

 

In the shadows of The Chestnuts Lewis Carroll’s former family home you can:

Experience a Mad Hatters Tea Party

Come and Meet the Playing Cards, Servants and guards of the Queen of Hearts

Enjoy readings of Alice and the Jabberwocky stories in the Alice Garden

Explore Guildford Castle

Listen to live Music from Guildford Jazz on the bandstand

Have your face painted

Take part in Alice themed craft activity and games

Stalls, Ice Cream and Refreshments

Come dressed as your favorite character and you may win a prize

Bring a picnic to enjoy the day in the gardens and watch the wonder unfold around you

Entry to the grounds and many of the activities, including a range of children’s events will be free. A reduce entry fee to the Castle will be in place on the day offering entry at the following prices. Adults £2, Children £1 and Under 5 years free.

 The Tea party and playing card scenes will be performed by Guildford Shakespeare Company throughout the day, Readings of the Stories in the Alice Garden will be undertaken by Senior Wych and Guildford Shakespeare Company throughout the day.  Music on the band stand will be performed by Guildford Jazz, Refreshments will be provided by vendors from the Farmers Market, Dylans Ice cream and Ollo Foods.  Waitrose Guildford is supporting the event this year and will be on site giving away free tasty treats subject to availability.
