Make your own mosaic in a traditional hand-made Roman style using ceramic tiles in this creative workshop for adults
In this one-day workshop you'll discover the way the Romans made their pictures and designs using tesserae, what makes a mosaic Roman rather than modern.
You can use your own picture or design or follow an ancient Roman mosaic image. You will be working with ceramic tiles to create a 20 x 20cm mosaic of about 400 tiles, which can be framed when completed.
We will follow the approach of the Roman mosaicists who built Fishbourne's mosaics and your mosaic-making will give you a greater appreciation of the work required to complete those great designs.
This workshop is suitable for beginners, you don't need any experience or artistic skills to do this. It is also suitable for people who would like to develop their art in a new way.
