Everyone is welcome to come along to the Long Walk to celebrate the start of the Platinum Jubilee weekend, as the Windsor Beacon is lit, one of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee beacons being lit across the Country and the Commonwealth.
The Beacon will be by Cambridge Gate, at the town end of the Long Walk. It is best to arrive in good time before the Beacon is lit at 9.45pm by the Mayor of the Royal Borough, Cllr Christine Bateson, and Admiral Sir James Perowne, Constable and Governor of Windsor Castle. A firework display over the Castle will follow the Beacon lighting.
Please note: This is NOT a ticketed event and is free of charge
Accessibility :The Long Walk is a hard, smooth tarmac surface with a slight incline at the Cambridge gate end. The grass surface which, whilst being flat and mown, may become difficult for wheelchair access in wet conditions. This event is entirely outdoors and access to the Long Walk is on foot.
