The Ocean Race Europe Comes to Portsmouth (14-17 August)

Whether you're a sailing fan or just looking for a unique summer experience, this is your chance to get up close to the state-of-the-art racing yachts and enjoy a packed programme of free family-friendly activities.

The fleet of high-tech foiling IMOCA 60s will arrive from Kiel, Germany, on Thursday 14 August (ETA between 12pm-7pm) as they complete the first leg of this 4,500-nautical mile race around Europe. It’s a rare opportunity to watch these spectacular ocean-going machines up close and see the crews in action.
Among them are seven British sailors across multiple teams - including Abby Ehler, Alan Roberts, Brian Thompson, Jack Boutell, Pip Hare, Sam Goodchild and Will Harris - all competing at the very top of the sport.

The Ocean Live Park, open daily from 10am to 9pm, is free to enter and offers something for everyone:
- Interactive exhibits on ocean science and sustainability
- Q&A sessions and live interviews with sailors
- Hands-on workshops and kids’ activities
- A public beach clean with The Final Straw Foundation (16 August)
- Live music and food stalls creating a festival atmosphere

Beyond the racing, The Ocean Race Europe is also supporting global ocean science. Race boats are equipped with high-tech sensors to collect data on CO₂ levels, microplastics, and eDNA, helping researchers monitor the health of our oceans.
