Amidst a tranquil location, surrounded by its own moat and set in 3.5 acres of grounds, this lovely medieval property provides the ideal retreat from the stresses of modern life. Moat house dates from 1460 and is located just 15 minutes drive from Rye, on the borders of the historic and unique Romney Marshes.

The house is noted as being of historical and architectural interest, and listed Grade II. It boasts a wealth of oak beams and an enormous inglenook fireplace in the lounge, which is for guest use. the sloping floors in some rooms, and heavily beamed landing, give a truly authentic atmosphere of times gone by.

Luxurious en-suite rooms ( 1 Four Poster, 1 suite and Luxury Double ) are decorated to the highest standard with quality fabrics and furnishings, beautiful en-suite bathrooms together with many thoughtful additions. Quality toiletries, bathrobes, lovely towels, flannels and accessories add to the cozy atmosphere, and the attention to detail make this establishment an extra special place to stay.

Rooms are available for single occupancy.

Relax in winter by the inviting fireplace with afternoon tea, or enjoy a strawberry tea in the summer months, in the lovely peaceful grounds. Make friends with our elderly pet sheep and angora goat.

A delicious breakfast awaits guests each morning which not only includes a full cooked meal and fresh fruit , but also home made bread, muesli and preserves, all traditionally prepared on the Aga cooker.

At Rye follow road for approximately 7 miles. Cross over 2 roundabouts and A2070 for 1 mile then turn right for Ivy church. The Olde Moat House is on left after approximately 0.75 miles.

From London
M25, M20 leave at junction 10 and take A2070 towards Brenzett. After approximately 9.75 miles turn left to Ivy Church. The Olde Moat is on the left.
