Gable Cottage

About

Gable Cottage is your ideal Cotswold getaway. Built in 1860, this sensitively renovated cottage lies in the tranquil West Oxfordshire village of Ramsden in Chipping Norton; itself, a designated conservation area.

This charming period property offers all the modern conveniences needed for a well-earned and relaxing holiday. Sleeping four in one double and two single bedrooms with a family bathroom, downstairs cloakroom, cot and highchair on request, the cottage provides flexible accommodation for all holidaymakers. There is also car parking for up to two cars.

To get your holiday off to a flying start, you will find a welcome pack on arrival with some basic provisions and a few little extra treats thrown in! And don’t forget, you also have the community village shop in neighbouring Finstock and larger supermarkets can be found in the local market towns of Chipping Norton and Witney.

At the heart of the cottage is the dining room for sharing meals, playing board games or trying your hand at on one of our Jigsaws. The extendable dining table is also handy for spreading out maps and travel guides when planning your day out and there is free wi-fi for internet searches.

Indeed, there is a wealth of great places to visit and things to do in and around Ramsden. Local attractions include Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill, and Cogges Manor Farm both of which have been used as filming locations; Cogges Manor Farm featuring as Yew Tree Farm in Downton Abbey. There is a vast range of activities to keep our younger guests entertained, including the nearby wildlife park and falconry centre as well as the UK’s only crocodile zoo! For walkers, the Wychwood Way offers many interesting, and sometimes challenging, footpaths to explore.

After your adventures you can enjoy a refreshing cool drink in the courtyard garden before rustling up a meal in the bright and well-appointed kitchen or popping in to the delightful 17th century former coaching inn just around the corner from the cottage for some traditional pub fayre. At the end of your day you can then curl up in the spacious, yet homely, living room with plenty of room to spread out and snuggle up in the handy throws to make your evenings even cosier. There is also a smart TV and DVD player for all your entertainment needs, as well as a wide selection of books to choose from.

When it's time for bed you are assured of a perfect night's sleep as all our beds are made up with 100% cotton bed linen so you should awake fully re-charged, ready for your next ‘grand day out’.
