The Wiremill
It is well worth a detour down the secluded lane to this 15th-century mill set beside its own lake and nestled amongst mature oak and birch. Displayed before you is a striking weatherboard building concealing interesting nooks and crannies over several levels, abound with beams and period features, including an impressive wrought iron fireplace. A large terrace on the water’s edge provides the perfect backdrop on a warm day for tucking into the inventive gastro-style food served here. Ingredients are locally sourced, and there is a good range of cask beers and wines by the glass.
The six individual bedrooms are in a new conversion, which is in keeping with the character of the building but adds a stylish, minimalist twist. Nearly all the rooms have king-size beds, five have large wet-room showers and one features a roll-top bath. A true hidden gem in the heart of the Surrey countryside!
