Designed by Philip Webb in the 1890s for wealthy solicitor, James Beale, and his family, Standen is a family home with nationally important Arts & Crafts interiors, most famous for its Morris & Co. designs.

The 12 acre hillside garden has been recently restored to uncover lost features and conserve the historic plant collection. A licensed café serves seasonal dishes and Arts & Crafts inspired gifts are available in the shop.

Open daily: Jan, Nov & Dec: Garden, Café, Shop 10am-4pm. House: 11am-3.30pm (last entry 3pm. 1-31 Jan: Behind the scenes tours only Mon-Fri). 1 Feb-31 Oct: Garden, Café, Shop 10am-5pm, House 11am-4.30pm (last entry 4pm). Closed 24 & 25 December. Please check website for admission charges, up-to-date opening times and details of events.
