River Wey & Godalming Navigations
HOME OF THE RIVER WEY BARGE
The visitor centre at dapdune Wharf is the centrepiece of one of the National Trust's most unusual properties, the River Wey Navigations. A series of interactive exhibits and diplays allow you to discover the fascinating story of Surrey's secret waterway, one of the first British rivers to be made navigable. See where the huge Wey barges were built and climb aboard Reliance, one of the last surviving barges. In the hands-on discovery room visitors can have a go at lifting a load or tying a nautical knot, or find out more about the cargoes carried on the river.
Free children's trails are always available and there is a programme of special family events. The Wharf has a small shop that sells souvenirs, drinks, snacks and ice creams and there are also lovely riverside picnic areas. To enjoy the river from a different perspective take a trip in our quiet electric launch (weather permitting). Dapdune Wharf is situated on the bank of the River Wry, just five minutes walk from Guildford town centre or by car from the A322 (Woodbridge Road). It is open to the public from 11:00-17:00 on Thursdays to Mondays, April to October.
