Milton Keynes Gallery

Milton Keynes Gallery main entrance, summer 2010.

Milton Keynes Gallery opened in October 1999 with an exhibition by the internationally acclaimed artists Gilbert and George. In its purpose-built galleries it presents around 6 exhibitions of international contemporary art a year. All parts of the building are accessible to wheelchairs users.

Its programme has three interconnected strands:

- gallery exhibitions
- off-site projects in and around the city
- on and off-site education events aimed at interpreting and generating critical debate about the practice of contemporary artists and their relationship with their audience.

Through its national and international programme, Milton Keynes Gallery raises the cultural profile of Milton Keynes as a creative city. Being one of the most successful new towns, Milton Keynes provides a unique context for the gallery’s progressive programme, which is recognised for its ambition and experimentation.
