Stowe Landscape Gardens, Buckinghamshire

Stowe Landscape Gardens, Buckinghamshire

Parks & Gardens

Home of the most stunning public gardens in England, South East England's wealth of internationally renowned gardens are a must see when in the region. Here are just a few to whet your appetite:

Surrey is home to the one of the most well-known gardens in England – RHS Wisley encompasses 240 acres of gardening perfection. Claremont Landscape Garden, also in Surrey, was architecturally landscaped in 1700 and is exquisitely maintained to this day.

Or head to East Sussex for one of the most well known Capability Brown-designed gardens in England, Sheffield Park Garden.  Vibrant with colour all year round, Sheffield Park Garden shimmers with waterfalls, cascades and four large lakes. Kent’s 13th-century Hever Castle is set in 30 acres of landscaped gardens – complete with Italian sculptures, a 35-acre lake and a rose garden with over 3,000 plants.

Other gardens in England located in the South East that are well worth a visit include The Savill Garden in Berkshire, University of Oxford Botanic Garden in Oxfordshire, Sissinghurst Castle Garden in Kent, Great Dixter House and Garden in East Sussex and Goodnestone Park and Garden in Kent.
