Anne of Cleves House

Awards
- Visit Britain Awards Code of Practice 2008
Anne of Cleves' house formed part of her divorce settlement from Henry VIII in 1541. The 16thC timber-framed Wealden hall-house contains wide-ranging collections of Sussex interest. Furnished rooms give an impression of life in the 17th and 18thC and the kitchen and bedroom recreate their original setting. The displays feature Lewes from the 16thC to the present day and the Wealden ironwork gallery has artefacts from firebacks and cannon to boot-scrapers and chimney backs, illustrating this influential Sussex industry.
