2008 heralds an exciting year for England's South East. From the birth of Bond creator Ian Fleming to 60 years of the Farnborough International Airshow there are many occasions to celebrate. Here are just some of the events to look out for.
Chichester Cathedral
In 2008 the magnificent Chichester Cathedral celebrates 900 years since its consecration. Throughout the year, visitors will be able to join in with the festivities with a series of events reflecting upon what scared spaces mean to the wider community.
The Cathedral will also use 2008 to remember the famous Bishop George Bell, 1883-1958 who died 50 years ago. Bell is remembered for his dedication to achieving unity amongst those separated by war and religion and is considered to be 'a champion of the oppressed'.
These two anniversaries combined will make for a truly unique year for Chichester. Take a look at the fantastic events calendar to find out more about the talks, exhibitions, films and festivals planned and see how you can get involved.
