Winchester College

Founded in 1382, Winchester College is believed to be the oldest continuously running school in the country. Guided tours concentrate on the medieval heart of the College and include Chamber Court; the 14th century gothic Chapel, with one of the earliest examples of a wooden vaulted roof; College Hall, the original Scholars' dining room; School, the 17th century red brick schoolroom thought to have been designed by Sir Christopher Wren; and the original medieval cloister.
Open: For individuals and small groups, walk-in tours lasting approximately one hour are available all year except Christmas and New Year. Winchester College will be closed on 23rd December and will stay closed over Christmas, re-opening on 3rd Jan.
Tours: 10.45am, 12 noon, 2.15pm & 3.30pm on Mon, Wed, Fri & Sat; at 10.45am & 12 noon on Tue & Thur; and at 2.15pm & 3.30pm on Sun.
Group tours for parties of 15-50 must be booked in advance, rate £3-3.50.

Road Directions
Follow signs to city centre car parking and walk through Cathedral Close to St Swithun’s Street, turn left under Kingsgate Arch and bear left. The College is on the right of College Street.
