Old Gaol Museum

Tourism South East Member

The museum reflects 3 aspects of the local past: The story of the Old Gaol, Buckingham's heritage and the Soldiers of the County. It occupies both floors of the old cell block, and extends into the original prisoners' exercise yard now covered with a state-of-the-art glass roof and housing an education resource centre. Upstairs - local geology, archaeology, and the story of the town from Anglo-Saxon to Edwardian times. Downstairs - original furnished cell, communications, industry, the county's soldiers and the Civil War in Buckingham.
