One of the largest houses in Britain, dating from 1456 and enlarged in 1603, Knole was the birthplace of Vita Sackville- West and has been the home of the Sackville family ever since. It is richly panelled and furnished with magnificent 17thC silk and cut velvet tapestries, hangings and upholstered seat furnishings. The state rooms contain a collection of portraits including works by Gainsborough and Reynolds and a superb collection of porcelain and silver. The house lies in the middle of an enchanting 100 acre deer park. Private garden with limited opening.
