Windsor
The wonderful Windsor Castle dominates the town - but there’s much more in Windsor, Berkshire including the Theatre Royal Windsor and Savill Gardens.
The Theatre Royal Windsor, a wonderful Edwardian building. It’s very popular, even members of the Royal family have enjoyed performances at the Theatre Royal Windsor. If you’re planning a night out in Windsor, you’ll find the Theatre Royal Windsor has a good programme.
Set in Windsor Great Park is The Savill Garden, one of Britain’s greatest gardens. Covering 35 acres, Savill Gardens has something for every season.
But back to Windsor Castle, it’s really impossible to resist it. It’s the oldest, continuously inhabited Royal castle in Britain. There are tours of some of the State Apartments and St Georges Chapel, try to time your visit to see the Changing of the Guards.
A good way to see the sights in Windsor is to take an open top bus tour. You can hop on and off to see all the things that interest you.
It’s easy to keep to the Royal theme in Windsor, go to the Royal Windsor Horse Show, enjoy the racing at the Ascot Racecourse and Royal Windsor Racecourse or shop at the Windsor Royal Shopping centre.
But not everything is Royal in Windsor. Take the family to LEGOLAND Windsor, young children will love the rides and the tiny towns made from Lego bricks.
Or take a boat tour on the Thames, pick up a boat in Windsor and drift along the water. Keep a look our for the wildlife - and the wonderful homes along the Thames.
