Offham

Offham village has some lovely fine flint knapped buildings and a pretty church. The Shiffner family country house is in the parish, overlooking the river valley.

The Chalk Pit Inn at Offham takes its name from the Chalk Pit, which is still visible from the car park. Chalk was transported through a tunnel (under the present road) and down to barges on the river by means of a cable railway. Some of the barge mooring rings can still be seen on the riverbank.
