Esher
A historic town close to London, Esher is surrounded by green space.
The town’s pleasant high street has numerous cafes and restaurants to sample. Set just behind the shops is a picturesque green and as well as the Tudor St George’s Church, which was attended by Queen Victoria when she visited the area.
Esher Commons have been designated a site of special scientific interest and cover 360 hectares of heath and woodland. They provide a superb area for walking, horse riding, bird watching, jogging, dog walking and other outdoor recreational activities.
Local attractions cater for a variety of interests. Brooklands Museum is the birthplace of British motorsport while Hampton Court Palace is the scene of 500 years of royal history from Henry VIII to George II. Claremont Landscape Garden and the 18th century Painshill Park both offer tranquil settings for a day out. For those seeking a little more excitement, Sandown Park racecourse and Mercedes-Benz World as well as Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures are all close by.
