Eastbourne is a traditional seaside resort, boasting five miles of unspoilt beaches, palm tree-lined promenades, four golf courses and Blue Flag clean sea. Offering fun for all of the family, from extreme sports and skating, to the annual airshow; visit Eastbourne Pier or dance the night away to live music at the bandstand.

Get your skates on and join the locals in their favourite pastime of roller blading along the five mile stretch of promenade from the peaceful Falling Sands to the bustling Sovereign Harbour Marina.

Eastbourne makes a great shopping destination, too: there's a superb selection of shops in the Arndale Centre and visitors will love to browse the unusual waterfront shops. After the hard work of shopping, there's no better way to relax than in one of the continental style restaurants, cafés or bars at the harbour.

The town also has a thriving sailing and watersports scene. Have a splash at windsurfing and canoeing, or take a pleasure boat trip along the coast. The resort has a wonderful array of floral displays and is a natural gateway to the South Downs, including national beauty spot Beachy Head.

Also close to 1066 Country, Eastbourne is an ideal base for visiting castles, stately homes, vineyards, steam railways and exotic gardens across Sussex.

With five theatres to choose from and regular West End shows, visitors seeking arts and culture won’t be disappointed with a selection of museums from modern and classic art to local history.

Over 80 restaurants also offer a wide range of international cuisine from the Moules Mariniere of Belgium to Turkish mezze. Shopaholics won't be disappointed either
