A typical little Chilterns town at its picturesque best. Its compact centre has a braod High Street of half-timbered houses and cottages, an arcaded market hall, award-winning museum, pretty church and memorial gardens and an excellent selection of small shops, pubs and coaching inns. These include the 16th c. Kings Arms and Crown Hotel which were used as locations for 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'. There are more shops, cafes and facilities at neighbouring Amersham-on-the-Hill.
