Aldershot is world-famous as the home of the British Army and its history is illustrated at various local museums. Key leisure attractions include Prince's Hall, West End Centre, Alpine Snowsports and Aldershot Pools Complex. A Visitor Information Centre is located in the High Street to assist visitors with information requests and accommodation bookings from Monday to Saturday. Day Visitors can reach the area by direct train links from London in less than 40 minutes or by car from junction 4 of the M3. Basingstoke Canal runs through the area and is a popular area for walking, cycling, boating, picnicing and fishing. There is plenty of military land, which is open to the public to explore. Quality accommodation is available, from picturesque rural B&Bs to a central budget hotel.
