Family Fun at The Historic Dockyard Chatham

15th July 2008

Flagging-Up Family Fun and Special New Tours this Summer at The Historic Dockyard Chatham

Flag signalling and deck caulking are this year’s ‘All Feet on Deck’ family fun activities on board HMS Gannet at The Historic Dockyard Chatham from 19th July to 7th September.

As well as one of these ‘daily specials’ on HMS Gannet, a ‘Pirate’, together with his new recruit, the Parrot ‘Captain Flint’ will be on board to tell the story of Blackbeard, the infamous real-life Pirate, during an interactive session at 2.30pm each day which is suitable for children of all ages. Colouring activities, a Brass Rubbing Trail, a Family Fun Trail (downloadable from the website before visiting) and the family Ropery tour are also available for families to choose from to add to the enjoyment of their visit and to keep the children amused!

All these activities are included in the normal admission price. With full price tickets now being valid for 12 months from the date of first visit, if families can’t fit all their chosen activities in during one visit they can come back as a many times as they like to do the ones they missed or repeat those most enjoyed.

There are also new guided tours being introduced for this summer. ‘The Hidden Dockyard’ and ‘Dickens’ Dockyard’ respectively are available alternate weeks every day from 21st July to 31st August and ‘Hidden HMS Cavalier’ will be available daily from 21st July to 28th August.  The very popular ‘Air Raid’ makes a welcome return too and will also be available daily from 21st July to 28th August. These very special tours cost £5 for adults and £1 for children (under 5s are free), last approximately one hour and can be booked on arrival at The Historic Dockyard.
