Italian Beauties on display at The Historic Dockyard - Spring Alfa Day comes to Chatham!
Alfa Romeo owners and enthusiasts will be heading to The Historic Dockyard Chatham on Sunday 13 April for their Spring Alfa Day, as the award
winning tourist attraction plays host to the Alfa Romeo Owners Club season opening event of 2008.
A fun day out for Alfa and general car fans alike, Spring Alfa Day will see hundreds of iconic and evocative examples on display from the past 60 years. Visitors will recognise some of the famous Italian models including The Giulietta Spider - just like the car driven by Edward Fox in the The Day of the Jackal, the Giulia Super police car - the same as the car in the famous mini chasing scene in the Italian Job and the Duetto Spider - identical to the car driven by Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate. Fans of the more modern car will not be disappointed either - Northgate Garage Canterbury, the authorised Alfa Romeo main dealer for Kent will bring with them brand new examples of the Alfa 147, 159, Brera and the new Alfa Romeo Spider.
This is a real opportunity to see the changing
style and sophistication of the Alfa Romeo marque of the years, all in one maritime heritage location. Supported by a number of trade and private stands offering parts, accessories, miniatures, literature and models, the event is not to be missed any true Alfa fan!
All the Alfa displays are available for visitors to view and included in the normal admission prices as well as the school holiday activities taking place, making it a great added-value day for the whole family!
Galleries at The Historic Dockyard include three Historic Warships - the cold war submarine Ocelot, HMS Cavalier the Second World War destroyer and HMS Gannet (1878) the last sloop of Queen Victoria's Navy - the Museum of the Royal Dockyard tracing 400 years of maritime history, a working Ropery which uses traditional methods, the Wooden Walls gallery incorporating The Road to Trafalgar exhibition plus the RNLI's national collection of lifeboats. Gardens to explore, indoor soft play and outdoor adventure play, a licensed restaurant and a NAAFI style tea shop complete the facilities.
