A REFURBISHED SHOP FOR DIDOT RAILWAY CENTRE
The Souvenir and Bookshop at Didcot Railway Centre has been undergoing a complete refit, its first since opening, and will be officially reopened on Friday 29 February at 1pm by the Mayor of Didcot, Bernard Cooper, with all those involved in the refurbishment.
All the work has been undertaken by local people, the flooring by Variety Floors of Abingdon, painting by Oxford Decorating Company of Didcot, Great Western Society member Mark Werrell has installed new units whilst Society volunteers and shop staff have cleared the shop and restocked it ready for the new season which starts with Mothering Sunday Steamday on 2 March.
The shop stocks a wide range of railway books, etc. for the discerning enthusiast as well a large variety of postcards, jigsaw puzzles and souvenirs to appeal to the younger visitors and families who visit the Railway Centre.
Didcot Railway Centre is based around the Great Western Railway engine shed at Didcot and is home to the Great Western Society's collection of Great Western Railway steam locomotives and trains. It is open every weekend throughout the year and during most school holidays with a programme of Steamdays and special events when the steam trains are operating.
