'Castaways' & Costumed Characters at The Historic Dockyard Chatham
Thursday, 14th February 2008
The Historic Dockyard Chatham has family activities running during half term and costumed characters from throughout the ages whom visitors will encounter around the galleries and attractions.
The true story of Alexander Selkirk on whom 'Robinson Crusoe' was based will be told by a costumed character on board HMS Gannet every day (subject to availability). Other activities include colouring, a Family Fun Trail (downloadable from the website before visiting) and a Brass Rubbing Trail. Visitors will also be able to join the popular Family Ropery Tour where they discover how rope is made, rope's uses in Nelson's navy and for punishments and how to fire a cannon, finishing with a 'hands-on' ropemaking demonstration with opportunities for children to help. Opportunities for children to let off steam are offered by the outdoor adventure play area, the indoor play area and the ball pool.
Activities run every day from 9th - 24th February, are included in the normal admission price and return visits with the 12 month tickets are valid throughout the school holiday period.
